Cups, pints, quarts
Section: 2.11, c
Time: 20 minutes
"Gallon Man"
Materials: Scissors, construction paper, markers, Gallon Man example worksheet with directions.

Description: follow directions, following steps as their build the parts to create their own Gallon Man, which they will turn in to their instructor.
Teachers will...
Formative Assessment: watch and listen as students fill out their Gallon Man assignments, answering any questions they raise and noting those who seem to be struggling or lost.

Gallons and liters
Section: 2.11, c
Time: 20 minutes
"Linking Liters to Gallon Man" -- Cups --> Liters --> Gallons
Materials: Worksheet, pencils (Gallon Man, if completed)
Students will...
Description: read the sheet with teacher assistance and add the liter measurement as compared to cups and gallons to their notes--either on their Gallon Man if they have completed one already or, until they do, on their worksheet for this station.
Teachers will...
Formative Assessment: check students are focused and filling out their worksheets, making sure they are making connections between cups and liters so they may eventually compare them to gallons.
Summative Assessment: evaluate the student's notes for correctness and offer them comparison questions on liters and gallons, filling in <, >, or = signs on their worksheets, which teachers will then assess for correctness.

Estimating volumes
Section: 2.11, c
Time: 20 minutes
"Estimating Volumes"
Materials: Worksheets, pencils (Gallon Man, if completed)
Students will...
Description: answer the questions on their worksheets that ask them to estimate which unit of measurement to use for different volumes of liquids, and later, they'll have the chance to go over answers with the teacher, marking correct and incorrect answers.
Teachers will...
Formative Assessment: watch and listen as students answer questions together and note which students are struggling or lost and assist them.
Summative Assessment: check students' answers as a class and then collect the worksheets to see their standings as individuals compared to the pace of the rest--also, teachers should note if there were questions that posed as challenging for the majority of students.
