Teacher's Station - one-on-one review with students
This section is a review of the previous stations and their concepts. Students will have previously been divided into three groups of speed for this station: one, two, and three, with rising levels of understanding. For each ability group, the instructor will go over concepts or particular problems that were the most difficult among the group.
Group OneStudents with the lower level of understanding of this material
Review with students the basics of each section: Length inches > centimeters 1 inch is about 3 centimeters Weight 1 pound = 16 ounces 1 gram = about 3 ounces 1 kilogram = 1,000 grams Volume 1 cup is made up of 250 milliliters 1 liter = 1,000 milliliters 1 liter = 4 cups 2 cups = 1 pint 2 pints = 1 quart 4 quarts = 1 gallon |
Group TwoStudents with average understanding of this material
Continue to work on practice problems in length, weight, and volume. This group, probably the largest out of the three, will indicate for the teacher the material that is most challenging for the class The instructor must therefore gauge troubling areas and address them so that they may anticipate the problems the first group will encounter when they become more comfortable with the material |
Group ThreeStudents with the higher level of understanding of this material
Instructors should challenge students with introductory conversion problems, which are found on the computer station's website: http://va-2-11-measurementworkstations.weebly.com/ Problems this group faces with material is not necessarily representative of the entire class Issues the group faces in this section may be relevant to the majority of students for future lessons as the class groups are more caught up with these methods of measurement and deeper into this type of material |
